Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles used to be on the same page when it came to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The royal couple used to adore the Sussexes. But this changed shortly after they quit their royal duties in 2020.

One year later, Prince Harry and Markle sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey where they accused one member of the royal family of being racist. Speculations heightened that the royal they were referring to could either be Prince Charles or Camilla.

Several palace insiders already came forward to defend the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall from the Sussexes’ allegations. But even if their conscience is clear, a source told New Idea that Prince Charles is blaming Camilla in a way because she has always been naïve when it came to Prince Harry and Markle.

“Charles just feels Camilla should be more careful, particularly when so much is at stake. This has undone 20 years of hard work from Camilla and Charles, who managed to turn her into an acceptable future queen. He is perhaps more upset than Camilla,” the source told Woman's Day

The insider also claimed that the backlash that Prince Charles and Camilla are facing following the racist allegations is taking a toll on the future king. Since he’s not the most popular member of the royal family, there are concerns that he may never be crowned as king.

“He knows he’s not popular with the younger generation of Brits and is frankly quite upset that Camilla could have ever compromised his position. A racism scandal involving Camila is the last that they needed. Charles fears it will put his accession in jeopardy if it gets any further out of hand,” the source said.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. As of late, there’s no proof that Prince Charles is blaming Camilla amid the racism claims. After all, the allegations have not been proven even though over a year already passed.

Several royal experts also revealed that the remarks made by Prince Charles and Camilla were not intended to question their grandson’s race. Instead, they were simply having a casual conversation over breakfast. And someone from the palace took their comments out of context.

As of late, it’s unclear if Prince Harry would tackle their racism allegations in his memoir.
