Is Will Smith’s livelihood in danger due to the infamous “slap” incident at the Oscars? This appears to be what reports have been saying in the last few days.

Cheat Sheet reported that the Best Actor winner has several projects in store. However, these materials are “indefinitely on hold” after what happened with Chris Rock at the Oscars.

As explained, Smith’s work with Apple TV+, “Emancipation,” was set to drop on the platform in 2022. But, the streaming service has yet to announce the official release date and declined to comment on the matter.

The outlet continued that “Fast and Loose,” a film project Will Smith has had with Netflix, is, also, facing a shakeup. As noted, the streaming giant has reportedly “pressed pause” on the title, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Similarly, Sony has put the brakes on “Bad Boys 4.” Reports said it has been gearing up ahead of the Oscars last March 27.

Page Six released the same update about the actor’s projects over the weekend. It came after sources spoke with THR and shared the alleged details on the matter.

A day prior, Will Smith announced his resignation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. CNN obtained the official statement of the actor from his publicist.

He stated that he is “resigning from membership” in the AMPAS, adding that he will “accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate.” He, then, concluded that “change takes time” and he is “committed to doing the work to ensure that [he] never again allow violence to overtake reason.”

The Academy confirmed on the same day that it received and accepted the “King Richard” actor’s “immediate resignation.” Nevertheless, it would still “move forward” with its disciplinary proceedings against him.

As for the disciplinary actions, it may reportedly include suspension or expulsion, as well as “other sanctions permitted by the Bylaws and Standards of Conduct.”

People consequently explained what the resignation meant for Will Smith. It pointed out that he will no longer enjoy the benefits of being a member of the Academy.

These include access to screeners for films and the ability to vote for potential nominees. As for the invitations to attend future events of the AMPAS, this reportedly remains to be seen once the board reaches its decision.

The same publication, later on, asserted that it is unlikely for the Academy to revoke Smith’s Best Actor gong. Although, he won the award moments after he slapped Chris Rock across the face on stage.
