The legal challenge from Prince Harry against the Home Office kicked off on Friday. Following the recent series of events, Express UK has asserted that he and his wife, Meghan Markle, have shot themselves in the foot.

This specifically comes after royal commentator Angela Levin shared some of her thoughts about the move the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made about their security when they return to the United Kingdom. She said that former working royals could have been a “dynamic duo,” who help the “needy,” but instead, they are “building up legal actions one after another.”

This seemingly led her to conclude that the Sussex couple are trying to “prove” something. However, ironically, she noted that it is “surely not their power.”

MailOnline recently recalled what is happening between Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and the Home Office. As explained, the royal-born Prince filed a claim for a judicial review against the decision of the Home Office not to allow him to personally shoulder the cost of police protection while in the United Kingdom.

The youngest Wales prince’s legal team reportedly noted that this is an “attempt to ‘challenge the decision-making behind the security procedures,’” hoping for a re-evaluation to take place.

The public would recall that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex lost their taxpayer-funded security in the United Kingdom after exiting their positions in the British Monarchy.

Although they have funded their own protection in the United States, their camp has argued that the team has no jurisdiction in the U.K., thus, causing him to request to pay for his and his family’s police protection when they return to his home country.

During the first hearing, government lawyers stated that Prince Harry’s offer was “irrelevant” as to how officials made decisions over Royal Family security. Reports, also, added that not every member of the British Royal Family, including even those working for the monarchy, has necessary police protection.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time reports said that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shot themselves in the foot because of their movements. South China Morning Post previously reported that they have already done it multiple times since leaving the royal life behind.

The publication cited their Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s “world affairs statement” as one of the examples. They reportedly landed themselves in “hot waters” after making comments on Afghanistan, the Haiti earthquake, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another event that made it into the list is the name of their daughter. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry named their second child, “Lilibet Diana” in honor of the Queen and the late Princess of Wales.

This reportedly raised eyebrows, but close sources to the couple claimed that the two asked permission from the British Monarch regarding the use of her nickname. Even so, palace sources alleged that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “had done no such thing.”
