Hilaria Baldwin heritage controversy doesn't seem to stop anytime soon. The 36-year-old author has come under fire on social media following a Twitter user who asked her about the Spanish connection.

Although the author took social media on Dec. 27 to explain her side of the story about the Spanish heritage, she once again opened up in an interview with the New York Times to explain her comments. Moreover, the author's husband, Alec Baldwin, also stepped into the controversial issue to safeguard his wife.

Since everyone on social media is asking about the author's cultural background, including her accent, Baldwin revealed that it all feels surreal. She noted that people need to understand that there is a difference between someone purposely hiding facts and setting limits to personal information.

She further said that she is not doing anything wrong while she is entitled to her privacy. She explained that just because she is married to a popular actor and have an account on social media doesn't allow others to enter her private life.

While the allegations are doing rounds, there is a clip of The Living Clearly Method author in which she almost forgets the word cucumber. Baldwin noted that it happened because she was nervous during her first television appearance.

However, netizens noted that her accent seemed heavy in some of the clips, while in other clips, the accent is almost non-existent. The mother of five explained her accent changes depending on her mood. Baldwin was also accused of making people believe that she was not born in Boston, Massachusetts but in Spain.

She addressed the issue and said that the only reason she didn't correct various magazine articles that reported her as Spain-born because she doesn't read them. However, her own Creative Artists Agency's introduction mentioned that she is Spain-born. Baldwin blamed the company for updating her information without verifying with her, and it is extremely disappointing.

"Who is to say what you’re allowed to absorb and not absorb growing up? This has been a part of my whole life, and I can’t make it go away just because some people don’t understand it," she explained. She continued to explain that her accent is influenced for several reasons, including her vacation to Spain and schooling.

Baldwin's family is still living in Spain, including her parents Dr. Kathryn Hayward and David L. Thomas Jr. She noted that she visited Spain for the first time when she was a baby. Moreover, she visited Valencia, Seville, and Madrid frequently being a kid.
