It looks like the Kardashian family may have learned a thing or two from the very public backlash their family has received from hosting parties during the global coronavirus pandemic.

People reports that the famous family held a relatively toned-down Christmas celebration this year, with only members of their immediate family in attendance. The “small” party was held at the home of Kourtney Kardashian.

In her Instagram posts of the event, Kim Kardashian West showed herself wearing a form-fitting green dress. She also had photos with her children North, Chicago, Saint, and Psalm.

Kardashian West thanked the dress’ designer in the captions to her Instagram post, while at the same time emphasizing that the family’s celebrity-filled Christmas party was canceled.

Meanwhile, Kourtney Kardashian posted a photo of herself beside a Christmas decoration and added a caption that declared it was “just the family” that would be attending the Christmas party that she would be hosting.

This is certainly a turnaround from the previous parties the Kardashian family have held that drew anger from the general public. During Halloween this year, Kendall Jenner was excoriated by the public for holding a party with 100 people in attendance.

Held at Harriet’s Rooftop in Los Angeles, the party had guests like Saweetie, The Weeknd, Doja Cat, Justin Bieber, Winnie Harlow, and Jaden Smith. Smith, in particular, stood out among the guests because of the oxygen mask included with his costume.

Some of the reactions on Twitter called for people to “eat the rich.” Another tweet called the party the “scariest” thing they had seen. Smith got particular attention from one Twitter user who said her mother and aunt both had asthma and that Smith’s costume was disgusting.

Twitter users also pointed out how it was hypocritical for these celebrities to post on their social media about following health and safety guidelines mandated by the government when they do not follow these rules themselves.

Even before that Halloween party, the Kardashians were already being subjected to public ridicule after Kardashian West posted a series of tweets that showcased the private island party she hosted for her 40th birthday.

Despite the toned-down Christmas party, Page Six called out the family for “splurging” on a Christmas party that the publication described as a “tone-deaf display.” The publication noted that the family exchanged pricey gifts while many Americans are in financial trouble because of the global coronavirus pandemic.

For instance, the publication pointed out that Kylie Jenner gifted her sister Kendall with sneakers worth $1,000. Kylie Jenner apparently also gifted her daughter with a pink Prada purse as well as a real-life Cinderella carriage as a Christmas present.
