Ever since “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” became a viral hit for streaming giant Netflix, Carole Baskin has been one of the few involved in the documentary series who has refused to be interviewed by the press. However, two YouTubers managed the impossible and tricked Baskin into giving her first interview since the series went viral.

According to Variety, YouTubers Archie Manners and Josh Pieters pretended that they were producers for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” As shown in the pair’s video, convincing Baskin involved exchanging numerous emails as well as assuring her that the interview would only revolve around her animals and not about the events on “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.”

Once Baskin was on board, Manners and Pieters had to save audio snippets from Fallon’s previous interviews and arrange them in a way that would make it look that Baskin was actually being interview by the late-night talk show host. The pair also pretended to talk to non-existent crew members to explain why Baskin could not see Fallon during the Zoom conversation.

As recapped by Vulture, the conversation went along without a hitch. Baskin was able to discuss how the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is affecting her work and her volunteer staff and to remind people not to pay money to pet a lion or tiger cub. She also called for support for the Big Cat Public Safety Act.

Ever since the documentary series became a hit, people have been curious as to what the stars of “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” have been doing. Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, the Tiger King himself, is serving his 22-year prison term for arranging the attempted murder on Carole Baskin’s life.

Maldonado-Passage’s straight husband, Joseph Finlay, now runs the Facebook page “The Truth About John Finlay” and works as a welder. He has also gotten a new set of teeth to replace the ones that were missing from the documentary.

Bhagavan “Doc” Antle was as unhappy about the documentary as Carole Baskin. He asserts that his status as a “high profile wildlife personality” was exploited to create more buzz about the show.

Norway, meanwhile, has become the new home of reality show producer Rick Kirkham. Kirkham had initially wanted to make Maldonado-Passage the star of a new reality show.

Jeff and Lauren Lowe are still running the Greater Wynnewood Zoo and plan to open a new one in Oklahoma.

According to Netflix’s own numbers, “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” is one of their most successful shows, placing even higher than Netflix’s own “Ozark,” USA Network’s “Queen of the South,” and USA’s “The Sinner” when it comes to critical and audience acclaim.
