Prince Harry doesn’t have any intention to reunite with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip this year.

While speaking with New Idea, royal commentator Phil Dampier said that Prince Harry could’ve celebrated Christmas with his grandparents if he wanted to.

In the tabloid’s Dec. 21 issue, Dampier said that if Prince Harry really wanted to spend time with the queen and Prince Philip, he should’ve traveled to the United Kingdom weeks earlier.

This way, even though he needs to quarantine for 14 days, he will still be able to spend Christmas with them.

However, Prince Harry didn’t exert any effort to be with his grandparents this year. And Dampier said that he may not have a lot of chances to be with the queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

After all, the queen will turn 95 this year, and Prince Philip will turn 100 in 2021. As such, the royal couple won’t have very long to live.

Meanwhile, Dampier said that Prince Harry will most likely return to the United Kingdom next year but not for the royal family. Rather, he could attend the Rugby League World Cup.

It is unclear if the trip will push through. But even if it does, the royal commentator said that it’s unlikely for Meghan Markle to join her husband.

And if the Suits alum traveled to the UK with Prince Harry, she won’t be making any public appearances.

Dampier said that Prince Harry distancing himself from the royal family must be devastating for everyone, but most especially the queen.

“She will be sad to not see Archie growing up, as she takes pride in her great-grandchildren. Let’s hope they can find a way to come together,” he said.

However, it is important to note that Dampier’s comments are based on his personal opinion.

The queen has never expressed her sadness over not having Prince Harry home for the holidays.

In fact, the queen is adhering to the government guidelines with regards to Christmas celebrations this year.

Buckingham Palace previously said that Prince Philip and the queen will celebrate Christmas at Windsor Castle.

Shortly after, the government relaxed its rules when it comes to Christmas gatherings. They said that families living in different homes can reunite for a maximum of five days during the holiday season.

As for Prince Harry and Markle, they will celebrate their first Christmas in the United States.
