While this was completely unexpected, many Drake fans deem it as a welcome surprise. On Apr. 30, the Grammy Award-winning rapper took to his Twitter and Instagram handles to announce the unexpected release of his new mixtape entitled Dark Lane Demo Tapes. Aside from taking the wraps off his new mixtape, Drake confirmed that his sixth studio album is slated to arrive this summer.

In his post on Twitter and Instagram, Drake thanked Oliver El-Khatib (@oliverelkhatib) and Noel Cadastre (@ovonoel) for putting in a lot of effort for creating numerous songs people have been demanding for, these comprise joints from SoundCloud and few new vibes. He also confirmed that his 6th studio album is set to drop in summer this year, Showbiz CheatSheet reported.

It can be recalled that the last album Drake released was back in 2019 when he dropped the compilation album Care Package. The recently unveiled mixtape comprises 14 tracks along with the five previously released singles Desires, Chicago Freestyle, War, When to Say When, and Toosie Slide. It also included collaborations with Future, Playboy Carti, Young Thug, and few other notable artists.

The album mentions a slew of renowned hip-hop producers such as Pi’erre Bourne, Southside, and June James. The first track listed in the mixtape called Deep Pockets was produced by Plain Pat and 40. Chris Brown has lent vocals on the uber-cool R&B track, Not You Too, which is produced by Noel Cadastre.

People are currently practicing self-isolation amid the world-wide coronavirus lockdown, but much to the relief of Drizzy fans, the rapper decided to drop new music without teasing its release on social media or any other platform. His fans took to social media to share their thoughts about the album.

A myriad of music lovers showed their appreciation for the rapper and thanked him for releasing the album during these hard times. One of his fans wrote in a tweet that Drake's new album was not expected; however, it is much needed. "Yeah, this is really good. Perfect timing too," another fan tweeted.

Some of his fans touted the album as a much-needed break from the super tedious quarantining. Keeping in line with that, one of Dizzy's fans said he was confused about whether this album hits harder or this quarantine is making it hit harder. Nevertheless, the Twitterati appreciated the singer's decision to launch his new album amid the coronavirus lockdown.
