President Donald Trump came out of the White House on Tuesday for a short time to participate in an annual holiday tradition that involves pardoning of the National Thanksgiving Turkey. The president did not talk about the election results or how the Democrat stole the election from him during the ritual.

A relatively smaller audience confronted the president as he seemed to realize that his star has begun to fade. The president is now in a situation where he has never been before, becoming part of a secondary story, and overshadowed by his Democrat rival Joe Biden, who now dominates the news cycle rather than him, The Guardian's Washington DC bureau chief David Smith pointed out in his new article.

Making a brief appearance along with First Lady Melania Trump, the president used the ceremony held at the Rose Garden to grant full pardon a gobbler named Corn. He used the occasion to celebrate Americans' faith and loyalty amid the still raging coronavirus pandemic and the rapidly increasing stock market.

As per the White House's issued statement, the president said it had been an incredible thing what Americans have to survive and continue to endure, with multiple vaccines now coming out. These comments came during a rare public appearance since he lost the presidential election to Biden.

A stark contrast to his earlier turkey pardonings, the president's serious tone did not make light of his political situation. During the House's impeachment inquiry last year, Trump joked about efforts to remove him from office. In 2018, he cracked jokes about how turkeys named Peas beat another named Carrots in a White House website vote to decide which one would get the presidential pardon.

Referencing the White House website voting, Trump said at the time that the election was fair, but Carrots refused to concede and wanted a recount. He went on to say that the results did not change even after the recount. This ironically is similar to his own situation after losing to Biden.

That's probably why he did not talk about the election this year, even though the General Services Administration confirmed Monday that he would allow Biden to begin his official transition. The announcement represents a formal acknowledgment by his administration that Biden won the election. At the same time, the president continues to refuse to concede, blaming widespread voter fraud for his loss, according to USA Today.

Moreover, Trump avoided making jokes after the pardoning ceremony but said Thanksgiving isn't a good day for turkeys. He called Corn a lucky bird that has been restlessly waiting to receive his presidential pardon.
