Prince William and Kate Middleton are the senior members of the Royal Family. However, Middleton has to observe one unique royal custom when her husband becomes King.

It is quite obvious how dedicated the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to their royal duties. They have also played a prominent role amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

William is second in the succession line and will be the successor to the throne when Prince Charles, his father becomes the King of Britain. Also, when the Duke of Cambridge wears the crown, Middleton will become his Queen Consort. She will then have to follow this special royal custom in front of her husband.

Although Middleton and William behave like a typical modern couple in many ways, the couple is expected to follow some special pieces of royal etiquette particularly in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II. According to royal tradition, all people should bow as a mark of respect to the British sovereign while meeting her publicly including the members of the Royal Family.

It also signifies that even the male royal members including Prince Philip have to bow while greeting Queen Elizabeth II and the female royal members need to curtsey.

This particular royal etiquette is also applicable to Kate Middleton. So, when Prince William sits on the throne, she has to curtsey while greeting him in ceremonies or formal public occasions. However, whether they also wish to follow this custom in private or not would be a personal choice for them.

Although Prince Philip has been scarcely spotted bowing to the monarch in public during her long reign of 68 years, he had to do so during her coronation ceremony in 1953.

The Duke of Edinburgh had to kneel before his wife Elizabeth to pay homage and fealty to the British Crown during her coronation ceremony at the Westminster Abbey, Daily Express reports. Even the Duchess of Cambridge may have to follow this royal tradition during the coronation ceremony of William one day.

It is to be noted that the Middleton will have less authority as compared to her husband once he becomes King. However, the Duchess will then be referred to as his Queen Consort. Middleton will also offer crucial support to her husband after he becomes the monarch.

Meanwhile, Fox News reported that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their recent wedding anniversary with an adorable throwback picture. The duo had their ninth marriage anniversary on Apr. 29 and celebrated this special day by uploading a sweet picture from their grand wedding in 2011.

The picture shows the young royal couple exiting their wedding ceremony. Kate Middleton is in her beautiful white gown while Prince William is seen in his formal outfit in the photo.
