“Hey Sergeant, are these the kind of monsters that Maki has been fighting? Next time on Fire Force Season 2, Episode 21, Enemy Contact,” reads the preview text from the upcoming episode.

The previous Fire Force Season 2 episode shows Company 2 and Company 8 team up for a joint mission. The opening shot reveals the armored vehicles heading toward the mission location. Later, they divide teams, Shinra is working alongside Lieutenant Hebio.

Shinra notes that they have never embarked on a mission as split up as this one before.

He is worried about leaving Arthur alone. Meanwhile, Takigi Oze also appears at the site and announces that he has been authorized to join them. With a broken arm, Takigi can be a liability, but he assures the Special Fire Force that he will handle things on his own.

Moreover, he wants to see the results of the investigation for himself. Takigi comes face-to-face with Hinawa. He confronts Hinawa about luring Maki into joining the Special Fire Force. Hinawa assures him that he will protect him at all costs. However, Takigi tells him that he doesn’t need his help and he can take care of any threat on the field.

The companies enter the Nether. Meanwhile, Juggernaut is considerably calm inside the Nether.  Juggernaut explains that he grew up in a country where it was always dark. Suddenly, they are blown away by an explosion, and Company 2 calls for a medic.

Another team is confronted by a herd of Infernals. Later, they are attacked by Orochi, Knight of the Purple Haze. She arrives and kills Hajiki. Soon, a battle between Juggernaut and Orochi starts. She is brutally attacking Juggernaut and at one point, it appears she has got him.

However, he manages to revive himself. At the end of the episode, he drops a massive bomb on her.
