In a historic move, Donald Trump said he would not let the incoming administration take over, accusing them of stealing the election from him and baselessly spreading disinformation regarding widespread voters fraud. As part of his attempt to hinder President-elect Joe Biden's transition, the president is making sure he is surrounded by his loyalists and removing everybody that does not agree to echo his dubious claims.

Keeping in line with that, Trump fired Secretary Mark Esper, announcing that he has been replaced by Acting Secretary Christopher Miller in a tweet on Nov. 9. Just a day after Esper's termination, several top-ranking Pentagon officials have handed in their resignations and have been replaced by those who continue to remain loyal to Trump and defend his legal drive to challenge the election results.

Anthony Tata is slated to take over the recently vacated job as the Pentagon's top policy chief. Tata is a Fox News analyst and retired Army general whose nomination to the aforesaid job was declined earlier this year, citing offensive tweets he had made about former President Barack Obama and Islam. In his tweet, Tata called Obama, a terrorist leader, CNN reported.

The Pentagon issued a statement on Tuesday, noting that Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense, Jen Stewart, Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security Mr. Joseph Kernan, and Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. James Anderson submitted letters of resignation. It went on to confirm that Dr. Anderson submitted his letter of resignation to Trump, effective today.

The Acting Secretary of Defense has assigned responsibilities of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy to Mr. Anthony Tata, it added. Furthermore, the statement noted that Kernan submitted his resignation on Nov. 10, as it had been planned for several months. It said Kernan would be replaced by Ezra Cohen-Watnick, who currently serves as the acting assistant secretary of defense for special operation and low-intensity conflict.
