The highly anticipated sitcom has finally arrived! Season 8 of Mom has premiered on CBS while one of the most primary characters, Christy, portrayed by Anna Faris, is not associated with the season anymore.

However, the show made sure to address the absence of the star during the premiere as she announced two-month prior to the launch that she won't be seen in the upcoming season of Mom. The 43-year-old actress has been part of the show since the show first aired in 2013.

Over the past couple of years, the show has been successful and even won Primetime Emmy Award and Critics' Choice Television Award. However, the show respects the decision made by the actress to pursue her passion and become a lawyer while she moved to a different location.

Allison Janney opened the show, who portrays Faris' mother, Bonnie, along with her husband, Adam, portrayed by William Fichtner. The couple returned from the airport as they dropped their daughter off. While the parents are shown emotional, they also talk about being proud of their daughter's major step in life and how it is going to help her in the future.

Bonnie jokes about dropping her 42-year-old daughter at the airport so that she could go to school and how it fulfills her dream of being a mother. She further reveals that her daughter has received a full scholarship and now she will be studying at Georgetown Law School, which is a real Law Center in Washington, D.C.

The show doesn't just share where Christy is at the moment, but when other characters are introduced in the new season, they all realize that Christy's absence without any delay. For instance, there is a scene where Bonnie's Alcoholics Anonymous friends, Wendy, played by Beth Hall, Marjorie portrayed by Mimi Kennedy, Tammy by Kristen Johnston, and Jill played by Jaime Pressly, miss Christy not being around.

The friends soon realized how important Christy was while doing little things like rolling her eyes to cleaning the pot. Bonnie noted that Christy used to vacuum the hall while she mentioned that she is keeping in touch with her mother.

"There is mention of the two staying in contact, however, as Bonnie remarks that her daughter "doesn't understand time zones" and tends to call her from the East Coast in the early morning hours," Bonnie said. It seems the show is going to focus on Bonnie and her friends, while Faris is no more in the credits.
