Matthew McConaughey recently shared hilarious and shocking information about how his dad died.

In his memoir Greenlights, the actor revealed that his dad managed to live up to his promise when he was still alive.

According to McConaughey, his parents had a passionate but tumultuous marriage. Jim and Kay’s fights sometimes turned physical with the latter breaking the former’s nose using a telephone during a heated brawl.

McConaughey’s dad also doused his wife with ketchup during another one of their fights. But just seconds later, the actor’s parents acted like nothing happened and they hugged each other.

And before his dad’s passing, he told his sons that he would go while making love to his wife. And according to McConaughey, that’s exactly what happened in 1992.

The actor revealed that his dad suffered a heart attack while making love to his mom. McConaughey’s mom also confirmed the actor’s accounts via an email to the New York Times.

Kay admitted that what she and Jim had was a rocky and passionate love affair. She also acknowledged the fact that her son is very honest and true to himself. However, Kay said that she hopes her son would’ve talked more about her and Jim’s love, commitment, and affection for each other.

Meanwhile, McConaughey previously revealed that he’s been helping his mom find love. In January, he told Entertainment Tonight that he’s playing matchmaker for Kay.

Hugh Grant hilariously told his fellow actor that they should pair their parents out. After all, McConaughey’s mom is 88, while Grant’s dad is 91. McConaughey agreed with Grant’s proposal and joked that they won’t probably see their parents for the rest of the night when they meet.

In related news, the actor also revealed that he was blackmailed for sex when he was just a teenager. Back then, the innocent young boy became convinced that he would go to hell for having premarital sex.

Three years later, McConaughey revealed that he was molested by a man while he was unconscious in a van. But he made it clear that he doesn’t see himself as the victim. After all, he thinks that the world is conspiring to make him happy in the end.
