While many people lean on their friends to get over an adverse situation, Mike Tyson, reportedly, did not get this privilege even after being released from jail.

The former boxing champion’s probation officer asked him not to meet with celebs who had criminal records. Thus, Tyson was prohibited from spending time with his closest friends, such as Bobby Brown and Tupac Shakur, after his release.

While Tyson was an incredibly successful boxer, he faces several adverse situations in his personal life. His divorce from Robin Givens, his then-wife, was an expensive and controversial one. He also had to pay about $8 million for assaulting some of his fans.

The former champion also faced charges for, allegedly, raping a young beauty pageant winner called Desiree Washington. Although Tyson claims that he was innocent, he had to serve a sentence of six years in jail after being convicted.

Eventually, he had to serve a prison term of three years before getting released in 1995. He sought out people who could assist him in adapting after being released from prison. Yet, he was not allowed to meet some of his famous friends without any proper reason.

Tyson revealed this in one of the recent episodes of his podcast called Hotboxin that his probation officer made sure that he stayed away from Bobby Brown and Tupac.

The former boxer also mentioned that they were his best friends at that time. He feels it is shameful the way the parole officer thought at that time.

Mike Tyson went into an introspection mode after this surprising admission on his podcast. He tried to assess the psychology behind this kind of restriction on him.

He thinks it was a kind of “self-hate.”  So, unlike many people who would be absolutely thrilled to resume their normal life after coming out of prison, he was extremely scared and apprehensive about getting used to reality after being released from prison.

Tyson had sort of gotten used to his prison life and was nervous about what his life would be like as a free person. He also did not wish to return to mainstream society as he had carved out a comfortable life while serving his sentence.

The former champion said he leveraged his situation then and even impregnated a woman while in jail. Mike Tyson acknowledges that his anger stopped him from embracing a normal lifestyle after getting released, Showbiz Cheat Sheet reports.
