Over the weekend, British royal member Princess Eugenie shared a post by American musician Selena Gomez on her official Instagram.

The post, which Gomez shared last month, showed the ‘Kill Them With Kindness’ singer wearing a light blue one-piece bikini showing her kidney transplant scar on her right thigh.

Selena Gomez underwent the transplant surgery back in 2017 when it was revealed that Gomez was suffering from Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, a serious disease affecting her kidneys.

Gomez’s best friend Francia Raisa donated one of her kidneys to Selena, and the singer has been extremely grateful for it.

In the post shared by Princess Eugenie, Selena captioned the photo with the context of empowering one's self to not be scared of showing their scars.

The singer expressed that she once was so scared of showing her transplant scar in fear that she would be bullied. She confessed in the post that it was hard to find herself pretty knowing that she had a massive scar.

But her outlook has changed, and now she is living freely and happily with the scar that saved her life.

Princess Eugenie's sharing of the photo comes from her own experience. The daughter of Prince Andrew underwent a serious surgery herself back when she was 12.

The young Princess was suffering from complicated scoliosis and had to undergo surgery to leave her with a big scar on her back.

In 2018, Princess Eugenie opted to wear a low back wedding gown during her wedding to Jack Brooksbank, with no veil, so it will not cover her back.

The photos of her wearing the wedding gown were praised by many as it showed her back scar. The Princess has shared her story many times, believing that scars tell a story of the past and the person's future.

She has encouraged millions of girls to be not ashamed of their scars and showcase them with love.

Selena Gomez’s outlook on her own struggle with her life-saving scar resonated with Princess Eugenie. Both of them are media magnets, and these scars, which are imperfect, are one of the topics that the media points out.

The two have no connection to each other. Princess Eugenie and Selena Gomez have never met each other, but their paralleling story has created a sisterhood.

Princess Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice are patrons of many charities that empower women in the UK.
