Sarah Michelle Gellar has been a part of Hollywood for quite some time now, with acting credits varying from TV shows, and movies such as I Know What You Did Last Summer, Cruel Intentions, and Ringer. The 43-year-old actress recalled making a memorable purchase with the money she got for Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 1.

In the wake of Buffy’s skyrocketing success, a teenage Gellar began earning a steady income as an actor. In other words, she had money to buy a car, which isn't short of hitting a major milestone for a teenager. Gellar revealed in her interview on CNBC Make It back in 2018 that she didn't directly go out and bought a set of wheels without delay or hesitation.

“I remember I was the last one to get a new car,” she told the interviewer referring to other Buffy cast members. She said she waited until the second season of the show to buy a new car, while the other cast members had already bought theirs.

The now-mother of two opted to upgrade her car only when she felt ready, telling the host that she wasn't willing to trade in her "poor, sad first car," which was a green, Chrysler Lebaron until she was totally sure. She recalls the experience as "pretty awful."

Cautious and thoughtful, Gellar ditched the Chrysler but said she felt stressed about shelling out a considerable amount of money on a new car. She confessed that she knew little about cars, and always wanted to get a Range Rover once she learns how to drive and gets a license, but later found out that Range Rovers aren't easy on the pocketbook.

She recalls getting sticker shock that changed her mind about getting a Range Rover. The first time she saw how much a Range Rover costs, Gellar said she decided she doesn't want to get a Range Rover, adding that she doesn't have the luxury SUV even today.

Describing herself as a "saver," the New York-born actor always aspired to be in a place where she could always have a roof over her head. Discovered at the age of 4, today, Gellar's net worth is an estimated $20 million.

She rose to popularity in the 90s. She portrayed the role of Buffy, an evil-fighting teen on the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She starred in the series from 1997 to 2003.
