The heat of the 2020 presidential election is turning out to be more intense than it was initially expected. An election campaign is supposed to highlight the positive changes and schemes that the incumbent plans to bring about if he/she is chosen to be the head. In other words, the code is to strictly remain within the boundaries of professionalism.

However, in the case of the United States, the battle has gone far beyond that - getting more personal with every passing day. The instance has been presented by President Donald Trump during his rally in Pittsburg on Tuesday night. The President has one more time mocked Biden for wearing a mask, however - in a more personal manner than ever before.

Addressing a crowd of supporters, mostly maskless as one would expect, Trump suggested that it’s foolish to hide a face that one has spent money on plastic surgeries. As per Trump, Biden shouldn’t be covering his face under facemasks to prevent the spread of coronavirus, as it also hides what Biden has acquired after spending a lot of money.

Snickering at Biden for wearing a mask and covering up his smooth face, Trump said, “I'll be honest, he feels good about that mask, and that's OK. I mean honestly, what the hell did he spend all that money on the plastic surgery if he's going to cover it up with a mask. It makes him feel comfortable.”

Trump's comments of ridicule may not be taken well by everybody.

It’s long been rumored that the former Vice President has had one or multiple plastic surgeries. As per surgeons, the look of Joe Biden changed noticeably during the 2008 election campaigns. The same phenomenon was repeated at the start of his bid to get the nomination for Vice Presidency last year. Trump pointed Biden’s face glows and is smooth only because of the plastic he has got on his face.

Ironically, Trump poked fun at Biden for wearing a mask on the same day as the death toll from coronavirus in the country eclipsed the 2,00,000 mark. It’s either a shame or a sham!

The competition is nip and tuck between the sitting President and former Vice President, but the odds are very low that such remarks during campaigns may prove to be helpful.

With Trump’s comment on the mask, the mask-agenda ball is back in Biden’s court. What remains is to see how Biden reacts to it.
