Meghan Markle, allegedly, faced backlash after she encouraged American voters to cast their votes on November 3.

While speaking with Access Hollywood, Democrat campaigner Gloria Steinem detailed her conversation with the Duchess of Sussex.

Steinem revealed that Markle decided to return to the United States for good because she wanted to vote in the upcoming elections.

The first thing we did, and why she came to see me, as we sat at the dining room table where I am right now and we cold-called voters,” she said.

Steinem also said that one of Markle’s strategies was to be as candid as possible with the people that she’s talking to on the phone. They didn’t also any formal introductions other than saying their names and asking the person on the line if they’re going to vote.

The Democrat campaigner couldn’t also help but gush over Markle, who she said is smart and political during their candid meet and greet. However, after the teaser for the interview aired, Markle received countless criticisms.

“Women are not ranked, they are linked. Says a woman who married a man who got her a ranking title,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“It’s not a great look to have the main quote from the interview be about women being ‘linked not ranked’, and be referred to by your ‘literal rank,’ another person commented.

“All WOMEN are linked, not ranked’ BUT Meghan is ranked with a ‘DUCHESS TITLE’ and the continual using of the said title,” a third person said.

Meanwhile, Markle also talked about the upcoming elections during a special unveiling of the 2020 TIME 100 list of influential people on Tuesday.

“Every four years we are told the same thing, that this is the most important election of our lifetime. But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard. Your voice is a reminder that you matter because you do and you deserve to be heard,” Markle said.

According to reports, another reason why Markle wanted to quit The Firm was that she wanted her political views to be heard. As a member of the royal family, she and Prince Harry weren’t able to talk about politics because royals aren’t allowed to comment on such matters.

But now that she’s no longer a senior working royal, she’s finally able to talk about politics and the upcoming elections.
