Prince William will be joining a list of famous environmentalists, pioneers, engineers and influencers on a virtual TED Talk that will tackle Climate Change.

The Prince who launched a campaign last year, called the ‘Earthshot Prize Initiative’, will be joining the likes of Al Gore, Chris Hemsworth and Will Smith’s son, Jaden Smith on the TED Talk.

A released statement by the TED Talk group said that the talk will focus on protection, regeneration and transformation.

The TED Talk session has been entitled as ‘Breakthrough’.

The Prince’s ‘Earthshot Prize Initiative’ was heavily praised by the environmental activist community and the Prince himself has vowed to find ways to help the environment.

His explanation of the initiative was that the Earth was at its ‘tipping point’ and that we, collectively, as human beings have only 10 years to save the Earth.

The description of the session continued, saying that, “The world around us is mainly made of two things: nature and the materials that we extract from it. To fight climate change, we need to protect and regenerate nature and transform materials into low or zero-carbon alternatives.”

Prince William will be joining the fourth and final session of the ‘Breakthrough’ TED Talk.

Prince William’s ‘Eartshot Prize Initiative’, which was launched last year was narrated by the legendary Sir Dave Attenborough.

The Initiative aims to find 50 plus solutions in saving the Earth. Every year for the next 10 years, the initiative will choose five individuals, groups or teams to be awarded a multimillion contract to help find initiatives for lowering the carbon footprint.

According to Prince William, he took inspiration from NASA’s ‘Moonshot’ initiative. The ‘Moonshot’ project by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration helped scientists to be more innovative, helping in the creation of CAT scanners, solar panels, and smoke detectors.

The Prince explained that the same thought goes into the ‘Earthshot’ initiative, it pushes people to innovate and find ways to help Earth.

The steps that Prince William is taking is similar to his father, Prince Charles, who is an avid environmentalist. Prince Charles explained before that having children made him more aware of the impact he is making in the world.

Prince Harry has also revealed in an interview before that he only plans to have two kids to lower his carbon footprint impact.

The event will be broadcasted live on Youtube with many more planned events coming up to the Countdown Summit in Edinburgh this coming October.
