Yet another Hollywood separation is underway as rapper Cardi B files for divorce from her husband Offset. However, this separation may be less contentious than other ones as Cardi B expressed her desire for an “amicable resolution.”

Page Six reports that the 27-year-old rapper has amended an earlier petition for divorce she filed that asked for child support from her husband as well as legal and primary physical custody of their two-year-old daughter, Kulture.

In the amended filing, Cardi discarded her initial demands and has now asked the court to instead “honor and enforce any custodial arrangement” that she and Offset come up with. Cardi is also asking that she and Offset jointly handle child support.

As recounted by USA Today, Cardi and Offset’s relationship has had its share of ups and downs ever since they secretly married in 2017. By December 2018, Cardi declared on Instagram that she and Offset were no longer in a relationship, at the same time introducing her daughter Kulture.

The cause of the split at the time was Offset, reportedly, having an affair with model Summer Bunni. Offset tried to get Cardi back at the Rolling Loud music festival a few days later, but the rapper sent him offstage instead.

However, the couple went together to the 2019 Grammy Awards, with Cardi telling reporters that she and Offset were working it out. Offset also made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where he talked about the brief separation that he and Cardi had.

Cardi B and Offset’s divorce comes right after musician Ray J filed for divorce from Princess Love, two months after Love withdrew her own divorce filing. Their marriage had been showing signs of strain as far back as November, when Love alleged that she was left along in Las Vegas when Ray J returned to Los Angeles by himself.

By May of this year, Love had filed for divorce from Ray J, but withdrew it two months later and having a representative send out a statement that she and Ray J were working through the “difficult situation.”

Two months earlier, Saturday Night Live’s Tracy Morgan also filed for divorce from his wife, Megan Wollover. The couple had been married for five years and have a daughter named Maven Sonae.

Perhaps the most prominent and still ongoing legal battle between former spouses this year is the one between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. While their divorce was already finalized three years ago, the two are now engaged in multi-million libel suits in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
