Recalling meeting Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez said the lead singer of the rock band Aerosmith couldn't help but show her affection. He didn't shy away from expressing his love for her, and freely complimented her and admitted how much he admired the star.

“Jennifer! You look gorgeous—what do you use on your face?” Steven would tell JLo every time she came onto the set, according to the songstress' book True Love. She revealed that Steven was always inquisitive about her makeup and hair products.

JLo said the former television personality made her laugh a lot by saying, that he keeps asking about the makeup and hair products she uses only because he was enamored with her. She recalls him having a wry smile on his face when he said that.

Unlike Tyler, who has a reputation for being wild and over the top, Lopez says she was exactly the opposite of him when she was an American Idol judge. She describes the singer as a soulful man who seems to have experienced deep pain.

Contrary to his personality and offbeat look, Lopez says Tyler has a tender side. “Steven was nothing like what you’d think,” she wrote in her book. Contrary to what people think of him, this skinny, crazy rocker who dons wild clothes and has a large mouth, JLo says he is deep and soulful, adding that he is like a little wounded bird when you look into his eyes.

Lopez goes on to suggest that his eyes seem to hold a lot of sadness and pain, noting that she saw someone who seems to have gone through a lot of difficult times. Despite all the negativity she thought surrounded Tyler, he still desired to form meaningful connections, she added.

She said Tyler fancied locking eyes in an un-self-conscious way of a person who fancies connecting with people. He would look at her with eyes that reflected a little bit of sadness, and a little bit of pain. Lopez says he gave an impression of a good person who has lived and his soulfulness.

Tyler and Lopez got closer to each other during their time as American Idol hosts. Lopez left the show in 2012 because Tyler was leaving but later returned for seasons 14 and 15. In an interview with ABC News’ Amy Robach, Lopez said she and Tyler had magic, which wasn't there anymore after he left.

She went on to suggest Bono or Mick Jagger as a replacement for Tyler. She told Robach that the show was a tough decision for her to make, but it helped her remember who she was as an artist.
