Neil Patrick Harris revealed details of his family fighting against the COVID-19 contraction. The 47-year-old actor opened up on the Today show and disclosed how he and his family got contracted with the coronavirus when the outbreak took place across the country.

The A Series of Unfortunate Events star said that he was contracted with the ongoing virus along with his two kids, Gideon and Harper who are nine-year-old twins, and his husband, David Burtka. The actor shared that all of them feel great now after recovering from the COVID-19.

The actor recalled that the incident happened earlier in April or probably at the end of March even after taking the safety measures as per the guideline. Initially, the actor thought it is flu but eventually understood that it is more than a regular viral infection.

The actor went on to explain that he didn't want to get paranoid but then he started to lose his sense of smell and taste that became a huge indicator for the coronavirus. Since then, the couple became alert and started to quarantine.

"I didn't want to be paranoid about it. Then I lost my sense of taste and smell, which was a big indicator, so we holed up," the former How I Met Your Mother star explained. The actor noted that one of the important symptoms to look for in this global crisis is the sudden loss of smell and taste, which happened to them.

Patrick Harris further said that the symptom might last for a couple of days or maybe longer depending on the infection. However, the actor informed during the interview that people might get contracted with coronavirus without any symptoms.

As a result, people should get tested to ensure that they aren't dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic first hand. Although the actor confessed that the process of recovery for him and his entire family wasn't pleasant.

However, Patrick Harris said that his family went through the journey anyway and got antibodies. Now, they are feeling much better and want to ensure that every person does their best in order to control the ongoing pandemic.

The actor's family is one of those celebrities who contracted to the coronavirus at the beginning of the outbreak in the United States. Tom Hanks and his wife were the first celebrity couple to come out and speak about their contraction while shooting in Australia for a movie.
