Demi Lovato opened up about her severe depression that led to suicidal thoughts during World Suicide Prevention Day on Sept. 10. The singer and actress wrote a long post on her Instagram to address mental health.

The 28-year-old multi-talented star has revealed before about her overdosing and struggles related to depression in 2018. Lovato said that she has dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts since she was a young girl.

I’ve been very vocal in raising the awareness of mental health because it is possible to see the light when you start the work on yourself. I’m living proof that you never have to give in to those thoughts," she wrote in honor of the awareness day held every year.

Lovato recently dropped her latest music track called OK Not to Be OK on Sept. 10 in collaboration with Marshmello. The singer shared further that she had struggled for a long time and for many days in her life.

The singer urged her fans and followers to allow this track to become an anthem for people who need help at this moment. She added that one can pass all the trouble they have in their life with time and there is nothing that one can’t get through.

The Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga star went further and addressed her fans while writing that she is always there for them and she loves them all. While her message was bright and uplifted many people on social media, the star didn't stop there and shared a nonprofit organization's reference for people to reach out for help.

She admitted that people having trouble like her with mental health issues should seek out professionals and the nonprofit will help to gain education along with resources that is necessary to get over it. Lovato further thanked everyone on social media for showing support towards her initiative.

Lovato shared informative posts on her Instagram and requested her followers to go through every slide carefully while sharing them with people they love and care about. Marshmallow also thanked everyone from his Instagram account and wrote that prevention of suicide began with having a conversation.

He stressed how important it is to open up about mental health issues and get rid of the stigma attached to the issue. The 28-year-old DJ encouraged his fans to break the silence and stop judging and shaming others for their condition.
