Queen Elizabeth recently adapted to the ever-changing times amid the coronavirus pandemic by conducting some of her interviews and meeting via Zoom.

On one occasion, the monarch was even presented with a portrait while she was on Zoom. But according to Woman UK, the queen has been embracing technology all her life.

In 1957, Her Majesty gave her first televised Christmas Broadcast. Back then, the queen already commented on the speed of how things were changing around her. But little did she know that there will be more changes in the decades to come.

“Twenty-five years ago, my grandfather broadcast the first of these Christmas messages. Today is another landmark because television has made it possible for many of you to see me in your homes on Christmas Day. My own family often gathers round to watch television as they are this moment and that is how I imagine you now,” she said.

A year later, the queen made her first trunk-dialed telephone call from the Bristol Telephone Exchange. Back then, she phoned the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, which was located 300 miles away.

In 1997, the queen also launched her first website, the royal.gov.uk. The launch was held during her visit to Kingsbury High School in Brent, north-west London.

According to reports, the queen owns a Blackberry phone, which she uses to check her emails while on the move. Barack Obama and Prince William also, reportedly, gifted the queen with an iPod years ago.

In 2007, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie revealed that the royal family just launched their YouTube channel. The queen personally uploaded a video on the channel during her trip to the Google offices in London months later.

In 2014, the queen asked her aides to create a Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr account for her. Shortly after, she sent her first tweet to mark the opening of the Science Museum gallery.

But even though the queen has adapted to the times, she is not the one that updates her social media accounts and YouTube channel. She has staff to do these things on her behalf.
