Last month, BLACKPINK released the single “Ice Cream” with Selena Gomez, and both the singer, as well as the girl group has continued speaking praises of each other. The "Stars Dance" songstress lauded the girl band's work ethics, admitting that she thinks they can teach her about a lot of things.

BLACKPINK is gearing up to release their first Korean studio album entitled, Blackpink: The Album on Oct. 2 this year. The comeback for this album has been divided into three different parts, with the K-pop group releasing the first part on June 26 in the form of their single, “How You Like That.”

Just a few weeks after releasing the first part, BLACKPINK hinted at the release of the second pre-release single featuring collaboration. The song title was revealed to be "Ice Cream," and Gomez was announced as the surprise collaborator.

With the coronavirus pandemic still raging and claiming millions of lives around the world, BLACKPINK and Gomez were left with no choice but to film the music video for the hotly-anticipated song "Ice Cream" separately. This didn't stop the artists’ parts from fitting well together because both videos used similar color, imagery, and even choreography.

BLACKPINK broke its own record with the song "Ice Cream" surpassing a whopping 100 million views, Soompi reported. The song became the fastest Korean girl group music video to reach 10 million views on YouTube, with the band achieving these staggering numbers of views in only three hours.

With "Ice Cream," BLACKPINK beat their previous record of 10 million views in three hours and 40 minutes with the song "How You Like That." Earlier this month, Gomez appeared in a video on YouTube channel NikkieTutorials (Nikkie de Jager). Nikkie and Gomez talked about the singer's music career and her new makeup brand Rare Beauty.

During their conversation, Gomez reveals that she has had an opportunity to team up with BLACKPINK. "Which is, oh my God," De Jager reacted, with Gomez completing the sentence saying "It’s literally a dream."

Gomez went on to describe her experience working with the girl band claiming it is a whole other world and special, and exciting. She admitted that this collaboration gave her a chance to be what she thinks she would be and that the girls were just the coolest, sweet and the song is so fun.

De Jager asked Gomez if she had advice for BLACKPINK based on her own career experience. Gomez responded saying that she is more likely to learn from them than the band learning something from her.
