Danai Gurira who portrayed Okoye's character in Black Panther has opened up about her co-star late Chadwick Boseman. The entire Hollywood is mourning at the demise of the 43-year-old actor who took Black Panther to another level.

Boseman was battling colon cancer from the last four years. However, the sad news was confirmed through his social media handle on Aug. 28 that the actor has rested in peace. Gurira also took her Instagram to pay respect to Boseman.

The 42-year-old actress wrote a lengthy heartfelt message on her social media that reflected legacy created by Boseman through his work. She began her post with a question and asked the way to honor a king as she posted a picture of him hugging her.

Gurira said that she coping with the loss of her co-star, brother, and friend. As she struggled with words, she expressed that nothing is acceptable to her anymore. She recalled that Boseman was always special for him. She addressed Boseman as a fun, regal, profoundly generous, and a pure-hearted person.

In the post, the actress also shared two chairs on which they used to sit during the shoot. The chairs belonged to the Black Panther set as their characters' names were printed on the back, Okoye, and T’Challa.

The All Eyez on Me star further said that her character's job in the film was to protect, honor, and respect the king. Given that, Boseman made that work extremely natural for her as he was a perfect example of grace, diligence, elegance, and kindness.

"On many an occasion, I would think how thankful I was that he was the leading man I was working closely with. And so perfectly equipped to take on the responsibility of leading the franchise that changed everything for Black representation," she explained.

Gurira revealed that Boseman always made everyone on the set feel heard, seen, and loved. The Da 5 Bloods star was able to portray such iconic roles with ease because he had a connection with those rich characters within.

The actress also mentioned the Boseman had the best laugh that one could ever witness. He was a role model for young men. She thanked for being a part of Black Panther and moreover, working with the actor to learn and spend time with him during the shoot. In the end, she said Lala Ngoxolo Kumkani which means "Sleep in Peace, King".
