There was a time when Katy Perry protested famous singers such as Marilyn Manson and Madonna even before she became a songstress. However, she has now formed a bond, both directly, as well as, indirectly with these same singers.

Perry used to distribute pamphlets to people who would be going to attend Madonna and Manson’s concerts. The songstress had revealed of growing up in a sheltered household. She lived in a devout Christian family as mentioned to Vogue in the same interview.

It is perhaps because of this reason why she was disconnected from pop culture in her early years. However, the reason why she was aware of these two famous pop stars was quite different.

The singer admitted she heard of these two singers in her family because of participating in demonstrations outside their concert venues. She even distributed copies of a handout, which mentioned How to Find God at one of Manson’s Californian concerts.

Fans might be curious about why she singled out these two singers to protest. While Perry refrained from giving a direct answer, both these musicians have something in common – the way they, allegedly, promoted blasphemy through their music.

Both Marilyn Manson, as well as, Madonna are known to find fault with Christianity through their music. So, it makes sense that Perry would speak against them as she grew up in an evangelical Christian family. There have been several Christian groups who have boycotted these two singers or protested over the years.

However, things changed drastically after Katy Perry became a singer. She has been vocal about her deep appreciation for the Queen of Pop. Additionally, Madonna’s documentary titled Truth or Dare inspired her to make a documentary on her life.

Both these documentaries deal with the subject of how tough life is for the superstars and on their touring. Perry also did a special appearance in one of the Queen of Pop’s music videos along with other artists such as Rita Ora and Kanye West among others.

Perry is yet to work with Manson perhaps because their musical styles are poles apart. However, there is still a major link with Manson as both of them have worked with Floria Sigismondi, a music video director. While Sigismond directed Perry’s video titled E.T. she also helped Manson in making some creepy videos for Tourniquet and The Beautiful People

To sum up, in the end, Katy Perry used to be an evangelical protestor who often picketed Marilyn Manson and Madonna’s concerts in the past. However, her musical career possibly changed her thinking and took her to a separate path altogether, Showbiz Cheat Sheet reports.
