Donald Trump started his convention week on Monday and went straight into a tirade about how voter fraud could jeopardize his chance of getting re-elected in Nov. He took this opportunity to slam those who continue to oppose him since he took the office in 2016.

Just moments after being formally re-nominated as the Republican Party standard-bearer, Trump delivered a speech from Charlotte. Aside from predicting a legally contested election in the fall, Trump accused the Democrats of taking advantage of the still-raging coronavirus pandemic to sabotage his re-election.

"What they're doing is using COVID to steal an election," the president said during his speech. He went on to suggest that the Democrats and defrauding the people of America and depriving them of a fair and free election without providing evidence.

The president was lauded by the GOP delegates, who had gathered in North Carolina to carry out the formal business of the recently kicked-off convention. Much to the chagrin of Trump's aides, the president's message wasn't as optimistic as they have been touting ahead of the event.

Trump's speech was not different from his trademark grievance-filled appearances that he has been making ahead of the small scale convention. He went on to reiterate his claims that if Joe Biden ends up winning the election in Nov., America would be overrun with violence similar to the protests seen in Oregon and Minnesota this summer, CNN reported.

He went on to say that the Democrats will be taking away America's energy production, religion, and guns and warned about the Nov. vote, claiming that there were courts and judges across the U.S., who are likely to give the people a fair call in a contested election.

The president claimed that the only way Biden would prevail is if they resort to adopting fraudulent methods, and warned delegates to be careful during what he described as a Democratic plot to defraud the election. He urged the delegates to ensure the Democrats do not steal the election from them.

Trump took a jab at the North Carolina's Democratic Governor Roy Cooper, who stopped him from hosting an in-person convention in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. People who gathered in Charlotte were tested and advised to wear masks during the event.

He also said that he had told China he would keep reminding them about what they did by failing to contain coronavirus and lauded his own handling of the pandemic that continues to claim numerous lives across the country. Moreover, he pointed out that there were new trade agreements and major reforms in unemployment before the pandemic wreaked havoc across the nation.
