Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris represents multiple identities including the Indian race. According to Harris herself, the South-Asian country has played a vital role in shaping her values and honing up her skills.

If elected, the fact that Harris traces her roots back to Chennai, India - is certain to change the nature of the country’s nature of the treatment of immigrants.

Virginia state Sen. Ghazala Hashmi, who was born in India, said that the demographic shifts are crucial for the country and it’s a significant change for the good immigrants, Americans, and the entire system. The Senator added on to say that Kamala’s career and values mirror how immigrant communities are “woven throughout the fabric of this country.”

Kamala’s nomination for the vice presidency is believed to be an important milestone in America’s history which is all made up of diversity.

When Shyamala Gopalan, Kamala's mother, moved to the United States in 1958, there were only 12000 Indians in the country. The count rose to 2.7 million in the year 2018 which was made possible after the elimination of origin quota through the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965.

The marginalized communities residing in the country are hopeful and expecting to see favorable systemic changes that may entitle them to opportunities like any other American.

According to Neil Ruiz, associate director of global migration and demography at the Pew Research Center, Asian Americans are now the fastest-growing racial group in the country, not only as population but also as an electorate.

The entry is one thing and the idea of equal rights is another – the treatment of immigrant and Black population in the country hasn’t been very commendable, due to the consistent clouds of differences. However, in contrast - America is also a land of opportunities for many [Elon Musk would agree].

According to political experts, it is likely that Harris’ nomination would turn situations for better – more opportunities will be created for everybody all across the globe irrespective of their race, ethnicity, and place of origin.

Big leap forward for America and it comes at the rightest hour following a movement that was aimed at getting a marginalized section of society their share of support, honor, and opportunity. From famous personalities to common people of America, many are confiding in Kamala to do what’s right.

Kamala Harris' nomination as a candidate for the vice presidency was a masterstroke from Dems that got President Trump on the back foot in the clash of campaigns.
