Sean Penn is at the helm of a great cast who will all come together for a live online read of Fast Times At Ridgemont High.  Hollywood A-listers such as Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston are expected to participate and the proceeds will be donated to charity.

Reports have it that the 59-year-old veteran Hollywood star would not be seen in his iconic character of Jeff Spicoli. However, famous stars including Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Matthew McConaughey, and Morgan Freeman will be a part of the much-anticipated virtual event.

When Penn was asked why he would not reprise his original character, the actor said he has full confidence in the new actor who will be portraying his role. The name of the actor who will play his role is yet to be revealed.

The proceeds will go towards CORE, a nonprofit charity owned by the actor to work for people suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic. A part of the money will be also donated to the REFORM Alliance, which is battling to change the existing criminal justice system.

Some other prominent names who could be seen at the event are Henry Golding, Dane Cook, and Shia LaBeouf. The event will be presented by the famous Comedian Cook.

The I Am Sam star mentioned that he appreciates the support given by Dane on behalf of his team at CORE. Sean Penn said he loves having fun and all these talented stars will come together albeit remotely to have fun and laughter.

Other cast members for the film will be revealed soon and viewers have to watch the live broadcast to know which character will be portrayed by each actor. Cameron Crowe, the author, and the screenplay writer and director Amy Heckerling will make a special introduction when the virtual event starts.

Heckerling stated how honored she feels about the fact that so many fantastic and talented people are enthusiastic to join hands and celebrate their film. She also revealed her adulation for Penn, Daily Mail reports. The director praised him for his magnanimous heart and his tireless support to CORE and other causes.

The live online event will start at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020, on TikTok and Facebook Live. The original 1982 film had a high school in Southern California as its backdrop where its students indulged in rock ‘n roll, drugs, and sex.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston, who will be also seen in this Sean Penn led virtual event, sounded optimistic even if the reunion special of Friends for HBO Max has got postponed once again amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jennifer Aniston spoke to Deadline over the phone after the news of the delay was revealed. She said the postponement has given the cast more time so that the show turns out to be more fun and exciting.
