Joe Biden put a lid on ongoing speculation about who he would pick as his running mate, by revealing Kamala Harrish as his vice-presidential choice earlier this week. Numerous celebrities including Taylor Swift, LeBron James, and John Legend took to social media to cheer her on Biden's ticket.

This is only the third time, a woman has been picked as a running mate on a top party presidential ticket. On top of that, this also marks the first time a Black and South Asian woman has been chosen for the role. Influential people including Hollywood celebrities, sports stars, and singers on Twitter and other social media platforms showed their support for Biden's choice of California Senator Kamala Harris to be his running mate in the impending presidential election.

"Love to see and support it!," James wrote on Twitter along with a slew of clapping emojis. Swift, on the other hand, responded to Harris' own announcement on the social media platform with a "Yes." Harris wrote Biden has what it takes to unify the people of America as he has spent his life fighting for them.

She went on to claim that Biden will build an America that lives up to the ideals of its people. The California senator then proudly announced that she would be joining Biden as the party's nominee for Vice President, and assured she would do what it takes to make the former vice president America's "Commander-in-Chief."

John Legend expressed his support for the Senator on Twitter and referred to Harris as America's future Vice-President. The singer said he was looking forward to voting for the Biden-Harris ticket to begin the hard work of helping the country recover from the nightmare presidency of Trump and building a better future.

Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen backed her husband and responded saying she was equally excited to vote. She went on to say she wonders why Election Day isn't declared a national holiday, adding that it should be celebrated with a post-vote bar crawl.

A frequent impersonator of the Senator on Saturday Night Live, Maya Rudolph appeared in a Zoom call with Entertainment Weekly. Rudolph, who was nominated for an Emmy for impersonating Harris on SNL, said that she would love to go to the show, although she didn't expect traveling during a pandemic.

She joked saying if someone can work it out, the show producer Lorne Michaels would send in an invisible helicopter that can take her there. comedienne Wanda Sykes, who was on the Zoom noted that someone will be very busy now, while culture reporter for The New York Times Dave Itzkoff posted a gif animation of Rudolph.
