Selena Gomez’s fans have been waiting with bated breath for the release of her song ‘Boyfriend’ to see whether or not it centers around her life story. While the song is just around the corner, Sel said she is not interested in getting a real-life BF anytime soon.

Looking for a new boyfriend isn't Selena's priority at the moment. Despite gearing up to release her new song dubbed "Boyfriend," the 27-year-old crooner explained that a man is the least of her priorities in these current times. The song is placed under the deluxe version section of her hotly-anticipated album Rare, which is slated to be released on April 9.

Just ahead of the album's imminent release, Sel posted a lengthy message for her Instagram followers. In her post, "The Heart Wants What It Wants" the singer explained how the new song was written before these scary and uncertain times that we are all living in now amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

“Many of you know how excited I’ve been to release a song called ‘Boyfriend,’ she wrote on an Instagram message on Apr. 6. Promoting her deluxe version of her album, Sel described her upcoming song as lighthearted, adding that it centers on falling and getting back up several times in love.

Aside from that, she explained that the song encourages you to bear in mind that you do not need anyone other than yourself when it comes to being happy. The aforesaid message was posted on the second slide that followed a picture of the artwork, showing Selena in profile sporting a tattoo on her neck that reads "rare."

In her message, Sel explained that the song was written well before the current crisis. In the context of today, she also clarified that a boyfriend is nowhere on his list of top priorities at the moment. She's joining the rest of the world in praying for safety, unity, and recovery during these scary times.

Furthermore, the "Kiss & Tell" crooner said she is donating to the Plus 1 COVID-19 Relief Fund, as well as giving away every $1 of each order placed in her official store to the fund. "Rare (Deluxe) featuring ‘Boyfriend’ is out April 9th,” she wrote concluding the message to her huge fanbase.

During her Instagram Live Show titled, Bright Minded on Apr. 3, Selena told Miley Cyrus that she has been writing a lot recently in an attempt to deal with the ongoing pandemic.
