Selena Gomez has marked her come back to social media after a week-long break by posting a video to her Instagram account. The minute-long video explains why she went on a short hiatus from social media platforms.

"The Heart Wants What It Wants," singer said she took a break from social media because she felt it was insensitive to post anything too joyful during these unprecedented times. Much to the delight of her huge fanbase and followers, Gomez has returned to Instagram post her 28th birthday last week.

The video Gomez posted was accompanied by a caption that read, "a message from me" and had a heart emoji. Giving her 184 million Instagram followers a brief glimpse of what she has been doing while social distancing, she revealed that she has been taking guitar lessons while trying to settle into her new house.

The photo showed Gomez sitting by a window, and playing the acoustic guitar. She donned lounge pants and paired them with a tank top while appearing cozy in a velvet pink velvet armchair placed in front of a wall that has been adorned with floral wallpaper. The singer's new home originally belonged to music legend Tom Petty, per E! Online.

The "We Don't Talk Anymore" singer shelled out a whopping  $4.9 million to purchase the residence, which was custom built by the late rocker and his wife Jane Benyo. The estate spans over a staggering 11,000 square feet and has six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, the outlet revealed.

Gomez took to her Instagram account on Wednesday to post a minute-long video, which explained to her Instagram followers why she decided to take some time away from her social media platforms. Acknowledging the fact that she hasn't posted a message for quite some time, Gomez said she wanted to let her fans know that she loves them and misses them.

In the video, Gomez also revealed that some exciting things are around the corner, and she can't wait to share with her fans. Aside from that, she admitted that she felt a little insensitive to post joyful or celebratory things to her social media accounts, adding that it was really hard for her.

The "Good For You" songstress said her priority is to learn more about what's going on, but added that she will be a bit more involved and show her followers some more of her personal stuff. Gomez said she will show what she has been doing, and promised her followers she will talk to them soon.
