The Umbrella Academy is making a comeback with a dose more massive than the last time. Ahead of its second season debut on July 31st, the news of the Umbrella Academy card game is making headlines.

The Netflix series is based on the comic book series created by Gerard Bay and Gabriel Bá. Upon its release a year back, the show garnered huge following all thanks to its distinct plot focusing on a unique set of superheroes presented wonderfully.

The original publisher of the book, Dark House Comics and Studio71Games have joined hands to develop the Umbrella Academy card game to interest card-pitchers.

According to the reports, this card game won’t be like typical ‘throw and play’ games such as Uno and Trump cards. The Umbrella Academy card game will follow the essence of the show – the superhero siblings fighting the evil, squabbling with one another, and much more just as it happens in the show.

Studio71Games is a past master when it comes to producing engaging games – the company is the mind behind games such as The Binding of Issac, Joking Hazard, and Half Truth. So, it would not be wrong to expect another masterpiece in the form of the Umbrella Academy card game.

The author and illustrator, Gerald and Gabriel expressed their happiness saying,“We are thrilled with the continued fan response and reception to The Umbrella Academy. Our love for these stories and characters is what makes us excited for you all to get to experience them firsthand with the Studio71 Umbrella Academy Card Game.”

The teaser of the Umbrella Academy card game is available on the internet – it reveals the background and the basic mechanics of the game.  Players may choose to play as each of the siblings in the show - Five, Séance, Space Boy, The Rumor, The Horror, The Kraken and Vanya battling the villains - Dr. Terminal, The Conductor, Hazel, and Cha-Cha.

Each character will have distinct powers to make the face-offs more intriguing. In addition to the introduction to the characters, the teaser also presents instructions on how players can conduct battles and how each character will perform.

Not just face-offs against villains, the rules of the games run in such an order that the Umbrella Academy siblings might end up battling one another – as it occasionally happens in the show.

Oftentimes, card games can be a remarkable alternative to digital games, and the one in question appears to that very game.
