Marianne Faithfull, an acclaimed actress and iconic singer, has been confirmed positive for COVID-19.

According to Page Six, Faithfull was taken to the hospital on Monday and then tested positive for the coronavirus since then.

Quoting Faithfull’s ex-husband John Dunbar, the outlet says she has also developed pneumonia. Faithfull also cannot receive visitors and has difficulty speaking.

Variety says that Faithfull submitted herself to COVID-19 testing after developing a cold while in London. Variety also recalled Faithfull’s previous health problems, which include breast cancer and hepatitis C. Further endangering Faithfull’s situation is her long history with substance abuse, particularly her long battle with heroin addiction from the 70s to the 80s.

Faithfull’s career in the entertainment industry has spanned 56 years, starting with her hit cover of “As Tears Go By” back in 1964. She went on to come out with the albums “Broken English,” “Strange Weather,” “A Secret Life,” “Kissin’ Time,” “Before the Poison,” and “Negative Capability.”

Aside from her singing career, Faithfull is also well known for her work as an actress. She starred in the French film “Girl on a Motorcycle” with Alain Delon, as well as roles on stage and guest appearances on popular television shows like “Absolutely Fabulous.” Her most acclaimed role has been as Maggie, a 60-year-old sex worker, in the film “Irina Palm.” Faithfull was nominated for Best Actress at the European Film Awards for her work.

Faithfull is also known for her turbulent relationship with Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger, whom she was with from 1966 to 1970. During the course of the relationship, she was caught wearing only a fur rug when police searched Keith Richards’s house for drugs. Her cocaine addiction also began during this year.

Aside from Faithfull, the growing number of entertainers and celebrities testing positive for the coronavirus now include American actress Ali Wentworth, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, and actors like Andy Cohen, Idris Elba, Placido Domingo, Kristofer Hivju, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and Olga Kurylenko.

Celebrity COVID-19 deaths include dialect coach and actor Andrew Jack, British comedian Eddie Large, celebrity chef Floyd Cardoz, and actor Mark Blum.

According to the World Health Organization situation report dated Apr. 5, there are now 1,133,758 cases of the coronavirus around the world. The number of deaths is at 62,784.
