Fresh from her album release, English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding, shared her sentiment towards making good music with the late rapper, Juice WRLD.

On July 17 (Friday), the “Love Me Like I Do” hit singer was interviewed by Billboard’s in-house writer Jason Lipshutz. The chat went on with Goulding revealing details of the album’s humble beginnings and her memories with Juice WRLD that “made its tracklist” [Billboard].

In Goulding’s brand-new album, “Brightest Blue,” one track stood out is the track titled “Hate Me,” which is a collaborative effort of Goulding and Juice WRLD. Jared Anthony Higgins, or best known as Juice WRLD, passed away at the age of twenty last December.

According to Sound Digest, “Hate Me” was launched before the rapper’s passing but the duo was never given the chance to perform it together.

Goulding recalled on the time when she first heard Juice WRLD’s massive hit track, “Lucid Dreams,” she felt a bit of dejection for not taking consideration in collaborating with rappers. Goulding revealed that right after listening to the track, she rapidly felt the urge to know more about the rapper. The “Burn” singer then spoke to Producer Max Martin, who has working experience with the rapper, since then the duo became instant music friends.

“I wish I’d gotten to spend more time with him,” Goulding said. She also expressed her sorrow over the rapper’s early passing as he was of the rap’s industry greatest competitor. “…it’s just painfully sad,” she added.
