E! Network's hit reality television series Keeping Up With the Kardashians propelled three Kardashian sisters straight to skyrocketing popularity. The little California girls became global icons, thanks to the show that E! Network has aired since 2007 and leading to numerous spin-offs over the past few years. However, it looks like the oldest Kardashian sister isn't willing to be associated with this show anymore.

With all the fame, success, and wealth KUWTK and other related spin-offs have garnered, it was quite surprising for fans to see Kourtney Kardashian calling the work environment toxic. As if that weren't enough, she announced that she would be taking a break from the franchise to focus on herself and her children.

Born on Apr. 18, 1979, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Rob did not grow up in the spotlight. Their parents, Robert and Kris Kardashian provided a normal upbringing to their children in L.A., California. The first time, the family garnered some popularity was in the 1990s when Robert acted as a defense lawyer in a murder trial for NFL star and his friend O.J. Simpson.

Kourtney was still at college at the time. She graduated from a Roman Catholic all-girls school Marymount High School in L.A. and went to Dallas where she attended Southern Methodist University for two years. Kourtney then transferred to the University of Arizona in Tucson and in 2002, she graduated from the University of Arizona with a minor in Spanish and a bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts, according to Bravo.

Her first reality show was a 2005 series called Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive, wherein she earned money for charity through the show. Two years later, a sex tape of her younger sister Kim surfaced, leading to the creation of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The family might have not had an idea at the time how this show would transform their lives.

Kourtney acquired some notable brand deals and started several businesses while still facing the camera. She also started a family. Kourtney began dating Scott Disick before appearing on the show, and the pair welcomed their first child Mason Dash Disick in Dec. 2009.

Before splitting in 2015, Kourtney and Scott had two more children, Reign and Penelope. Kourtney feels that her children should not grow up in the spotlight because it isn't a healthy way for her and her kids to live.

Kourtney has openly admitted she is not comfortable filming for KUWTK during the last few seasons of the show, making several statements about shooting being a toxic work environment, much to the chagrin of her mother Kris Jenner and sisters. Fans, however, aren't keen on listening to this theory.

Some fans took to Reddit to talk about Kourtney’s recent comments about the toxicity surrounding the show, with one fan asking if toxic is the code for making her rich and famous, while another fan joked about her calling the show toxic, noting that she is famous because of the show.
