DaBaby has now earned his second no. 1 on Billboard’s rhythmic songs chart – “Rockstar” that features American rapper, singer and songwriter Roddy Ricch. The single surge through a 3% increase in streams in a week ending June 28, Billboard reported.

Meanwhile, the music video of DaBaby’s “Rockstar” is now nearing 17 million views, and over 351 million streams on Spotify.

DaBaby (formerly known as Baby Jesus), 28, born with the full-name Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, released “Rockstar” with American rapper Roddy Ricch on April 24, 2020 as DaBaby’s second single for his third studio album ‘Blame It On Baby’. The song was written by DaBaby and Ricch themselves and was produced by SethInTheKitchen.

The song made the international charts in Denmark, New Zealand, Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal, Norway, Germany and Canada – spending three non-consecutive weeks as no. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Meanwhile, with “Rockstar’s” success, Ricch has now become the first artist to achieve two number singles on the same year since Ed Sheeran in 2017, which also spent six weeks at the no. 1 spot in U.K. and Australia.

The hit-single made another scene when DaBaby released a B.L.M. (Black Lives Matter) remix of the song, still featuring Ricch’s original part; as tribute to George Floyd’s death which led protests that started in May 2020 and the two rapper’s very own experience with police brutality.

Following the release of the remix version, DaBaby dropped the music video of the hit-single on Youtube, June 26 -- starring the two rapper themselves in a zombie-filled setup. The music video release is not a shocker though, because DaBaby has been teasing about the video a week before its release by posting photos on his Instagram of the filming location.

DaBaby and Ricch thereafter performed their Black Lives Matter remix of “Rockstar” at the 2020 BET Awards. The performance started off with DaBaby’s face on the street-floor, revealing a police officer’s knees on the rapper’s neck; re-enacting George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis on May. On the next scene, the two rappers can be seen descending from the clouds performing “Rockstar” next to a busted vehicle, with dense protesters wearing masks and shirts – reading “I am George Floyd”, “I am Breonna Taylor”, and “I am Trayvon Martin”.

Meanwhile, Lil Mosey’s “Blueberry Faygo” was eliminated by “Rockstar” and sent to the no. 2 spot. Followed by Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage”, that features Beyonce. On the fourth spot (previously on no. 5) is Jack Harlow’s “What’s Poppin”, followed by Roddy Ricch’s “High Fashion” (featuring Mustard) on the fifth spot.
