Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had a strange wedding ceremony. Their marriage ended in 2012, just six years after they wed. Read on to know more about the former couple’s weird wedding.

The Mission Impossible star and the Batman Begins actress perhaps had the most unusual wedding service in Hollywood. Holmes’ parents had refused to attend the wedding and it was a bizarre occasion for various reasons.

The 57-year-old Top Gun star and the 41-year-old Dawson’s Creek actress started dating each other in 2005. It is interesting to note that although Holmes was raised by her parents as a devout Catholic, she began to show interest in the controversial Scientology relation after entering into a relationship with Cruise.

The duo dated for just seven months before getting engaged. The former couple’s only child Suri Cruise was born April 2006. They finally exchanged vows on November 18, 2006. It was a Scientologist wedding ceremony for the duo, which was held at the stunning Odescalchi Castle in Italy.

The bride’s parents avoided the wedding service as they were reportedly not pleased with Holmes’ choice of spouse. The wedding was also unusual because the guests had started feeling anxious when the bride did not reach the chapel on time.

The actress’s father Martin Holmes had mentioned earlier that he would not be able to be present in his daughter’s Scientology wedding as he was a practicing Catholic. Reports had it that Martin had a clash with Tom Cruise during his daughter’s engagement.

Cruise had a broad grin on his face waiting for his bride while several A-list guests took their seats in the chapel. Leah Remini mentioned in her book that the groom stood for around twenty for his bride to show up, which looked “like an eternity.”

As the guests looked restless, Katie Holmes finally showed up. There was even a point when Jennifer Lopez had asked Remini whether Holmes would be coming for the wedding service or not.

A minister came to the Italian chapel from America during the former couple’s Scientology ceremony. Also, a special vow was read out on the occasion that Cruise had approved to provide his then-wife all through their marriage.

The bizarre line read "Girls need clothes and food, tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, a cat." Cruise and Holmes gifted all their guests a pair of Chrome Hearts sunglasses, each costing around £550 at that time, Mirror.co.uk reports.

Meanwhile, an unnamed insider reportedly told New Idea that Holmes is interested to adopt a child as she feels that more kids are in need of a home. The 41-year-old actress feels that she can give a lot of love and care to a baby, according to the same source.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were snapped together for the last time in June 2012. The actress filed a divorce petition in the same month.
