Princess Diana became good friends with Marie Sutton after first meeting each other in 1983.

Before her death, Princess Diana and Sutton exchanged handwritten letters. And in the letters, the late royal reportedly made shocking revelations about her marriage to Prince Charles.

In one note, Princess Diana said that what she and Prince Charles had was a marriage from hell. The Princess of Wales also expressed her desire to have a normal life. And she made it clear that her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry were her saving grace.

Princess Diana’s letters to Sutton also revolved around her rumored fling, Dr. Hasnat Khan.

Showbiz reporter Craig Bennett was able to talk to Sutton before she passed away last year in a Sydney hospital. Craig said that Sutton was asked about the rumors surrounding Princess Diana’s death, and the Aussie refused to comment on the speculations that she was murdered.

Craig said that what Sutton refused to say actually spoke volumes. He also revealed that Sutton received an offer for $2 million to share her so-called Princess Diana diaries but she refused.

The reporter said that Sutton will now take Princess Diana’s stories and secrets to the grave.

Before the good friends passed away, Sutton was involved in a controversy regarding Princess Diana’s trip to Australia. Craig said that everyone was trying to wrestle control of the project away from Sutton.

But Sutton was surprised when the Princess of Wales seemingly took her side on the matter. After Sutton was ousted from the royal motorcade, Princess Diana asked her to ride with her.

Following the incident, Princess Diana and Sutton started talking more frequently. Craig said that the two women engaged in late-night phone calls, where Princess Diana poured her heart out.

And when Sutton asked Craig to write her memoir, the former showed the latter the beautiful notes from Princess Diana.

Princess Diana passed away in 1997 following a tragic car crash in Paris. Shortly after the accident, officials phoned Prince Charles, who was in the United Kingdom back then.

Prince Charles flew to Paris to pick up Princess Diana’s corpse. And he only told his sons about their mother’s death the morning after.

At that time, Prince Charles and Princess Diana have already been divorced for a year. But since they shared two sons together, the heir to the throne reportedly felt the need to take care of his ex-wife’s body.
