Singer Sam Smith has declared the delay of his third music album because of the global coronavirus outbreak. The original title of the album was “To Die For” and was slated to release in June this year.

The British singer is not the only artist who has postponed his album release due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Other renowned musicians, including Willie Nelson and Lady Gaga, have also made similar declarations recently, USA Today reports.

Smith took to Instagram to inform his fans that there has been a change in the original plan. The singer started the practice of using gender-neutral pronouns such as them/they last year. His third album was formerly known as “To Die For” and would not be released as per the original plan.

Fans are aware that the album has already been delayed once before. Initially, the album was scheduled to be released on May 1. Later on, the release date was pushed back to Jun. 5. While no explanations were given for the first-time delay, it could have also been done because of the same reason.

.The singer observed that with the prevailing situation all around, it “doesn’t feel right” to release his album neither on the original date nor with the original title. He further states that he would not only be delaying the release date but would also rename his album.

However, he also gave some good news to his fans on his Instagram page. Smith said that there would be some new music from him to look forward to over the coming months. He added that he was extremely excited about the new numbers, Gossip Cop reports.

Further, the artist thanked all his fans for supporting him, as well as for their patience and understanding. He vouched to do the right things for his fans in return.

To date, Sam Smith has had four single releases from his upcoming album. These include its title track and another track titled “Dancing with a Stranger,” with Normani Kordei, a former member of Fifth Harmony. His new album would also have Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” (as Sam smith’s cover) and host collaboration with Calvin Harris.

While it is natural for some of the singer’s fans to be disillusioned with Smith’s decision to push back his album once again, it definitely appears that he has taken the right decision given the current global scenario.

After all, it is tough to go back and work once again on a project, which was almost complete. At the same time, it is really admirable on Sam Smith’s part to be able to do so when the entire world is in such a pathetic state because of the coronavirus attack.
