Alia Shawkat's 2016 interview video has gone viral on the internet when the Black Lives Matter movement is at its peak. She is seen using the n-word in the aforesaid interview. The actress took to her Instagram handle to apologize to the black community on June 5.

The actress mentioned how “deeply sorry” she feels while also takes full responsibility of what she said in a post she shared on her Instagram. She further adds that the moment she used the "n-word" was careless of her and she is embarrassed and ashamed by it. However, she vowed to learn from her mistake.

She regretted using the word that carries a painful history of the black community as it is not a word that is supposed to be used by someone who doesn't share black skin, she mentioned further in her post.

Shawkat, 31, who was recently linked with Brad Pitt kept going and shared how she has been constantly learning about what it means to be an ally. She stresses that black people's voices need to be heard clearly and magnified. The Arrested Development actress atoned soon after the video was shared on Twitter by Skai Jackson, who called her out for the remarks she made during the interview.

The Watsons Go To Birmingham actress pointed out in her tweet that she hopes Shawkat isn't using the n-word the way she did in the interview and asked her to "watch yourself" as she is not black to use that word. The Black Lives Matter movement has gained attention internationally after George Floyd's murder that took place after a white official in Minnesota showed his racist cruel act.

The white police officer, Derek Chauvin, on May 25, knelt on Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes and the 46-year-old black man was heard in the video incident footage saying, “I can’t breathe.” There was a rage for charging and arresting Chauvin, 44, for third-degree murder which many people who understand technical terms of law called out.

This unjust death has shown outraged across the country with anti-police brutality and anti-racism protests. Many celebrities have shown support by either taking to their social media platforms into consideration and some joining the peaceful protest on the streets.

In fact, several stars such as Harry Styles and Chrissy Teigen has vowed to help bail out the protestors while there are myriad of other celebrities such as Halsey, Jamie Foxx, and Kanye West, that participated in the protest.
