Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas dated for a few years before they decided to call it quits.

According to New Idea, if Bonas didn’t end her relationship with Prince Harry, she would’ve been the Duchess of Sussex and not Meghan Markle.

But after their split, Bonas opened up about her struggles while dating a member of the royal family. She told The Daily Telegraph that she was fearful the entire time she was with Prince Harry.

Bonas said that she feared failing, rejection, not getting it right, and not being perfect. She also said that her fears during her relationship with Prince Harry limited her in certain aspects of her life.

While speaking with ES Magazine, Bonas also admitted that it was frustrating to always be asked about her relationship with Prince Harry. She said that she didn’t want to be labeled but there were times that she’s doing her work and people were asking her about the Duke of Sussex.

When Bonas was asked to share her thoughts about Markle’s struggles, she said that she refused to respond to it for fear that it would be a headline. Bonas also said that she won’t respond out of respect for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

During a separate interview, Bonas said that she didn’t also like how photographers followed her everywhere. And everything that she wore would make headlines. If some people didn’t like what she was wearing, they would criticize her.

In the book Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, royal author Katie Nicholl claimed that Bonas was completely spooked after seeing Prince William and Kate Middleton’s first royal tour with Prince George in Australia in 2014.

While watching the tour unfold on television, Bonas reportedly realized that she didn’t want to receive the same kind of attention from the public. As such, she realized that royal life isn’t for her.

Nicholl claimed that Prince Harry was head over heels for Bonas. And he tried to convince him to stay with him. However, Bonas’s mind was already made up.

According to the royal author, the two men that Prince Harry fell in love with left him heartbroken after they told him that they didn’t want to be members of the royal family.

But just two years after her split from Bonas, Prince Harry met Markle through their common friend. A year later, they announced their engagement and they tied the knot in 2018.
