E. Jean Carroll, the woman who accused former President Donald Trump of rape, is contemplating filing a third defamation lawsuit against Trump following remarks he made during a recent CNN town hall event.

Trump's comments, which Carroll described as "vile" and "stupid," dismissed her allegations as "fake" and part of a "made-up story."

The possibility of another lawsuit comes shortly after Trump was deemed responsible by a New York jury for sexually assaulting and defaming Carroll, resulting in a $5 million payout to the accuser. Despite this ruling, Trump continued to deny the allegations and belittled Carroll's account during a CNN interview with Kaitlan Collins.

In a follow-up interview with the New York Times, Carroll expressed her disgust and anger towards Trump's comments. "It’s just disgusting, vile, foul, it wounds people," she stated, further criticizing what she referred to as Trump's "cave-man view" of women.

Roberta A. Kaplan, Carroll's lawyer, confirmed that all options, including a new defamation lawsuit, are being considered, although no decision has been made yet. "We have to weigh the various pros and cons and we’ll come to a decision in the next day or so, probably," Kaplan told the Times.

The incident that sparked the allegations took place in a New York City department store dressing room in 1996. The jury found Trump guilty of defaming Carroll last year when he called her accusations a "complete con job," a "hoax," and a "lie" in a post on Truth Social.

A second defamation case initiated by Carroll against Trump is currently pending. Trump has argued that he cannot be sued for those comments as they were made in his "official capacity as president" at the time. However, Carroll's legal team appears to remain undeterred as they weigh the potential for a third defamation lawsuit.
