George Clooney and his lawyer wife Amal Clooney is known for their philanthropic activities. However, it is being said that the couple is upset after a charity used their names to sell expensive tickets.

The Clooneys launched the Clooney Foundation for Justice in 2016. They are also associated with various other humanitarian endeavors. They are also one of the most well-known couples in Hollywood and have created a niche for themselves in their respective professions.

So, it was not unusual when a charity used their names to sell tickets for one of their upcoming events. Stephanie Lapensee, who is Connect Summit’s organizer, had to be in an unpleasant situation after the actor showed his doubts concerning the charity’s upcoming event.

The event is scheduled to take place on Jun 23-24 and not only used the names of the Clooneys’ and several other celebrities to sell their expensive tickets for an online forum, Deadline reports.

Apart from the Clooneys, celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey, Charlize Theron, Blake Lively, and Ryan Reynolds were also listed by the organization as their keynote speakers.

Meanwhile, George Clooney mentioned to Deadline that it was distressing to note his and Amal Clooney’s names were included in the list of their keynote speakers without even intimating them. Although the couple supports many charities, they were reportedly unhappy to know that their names were listed from one of their friends over the phone.

Clooney mentioned certain ads insist that he and his wife Amal Clooney will be attending the Thrive Philanthropy’s Connect Summit. The actor says he is uncertain whether the charity is what it claims to be. He also hopes that the incident will be thoroughly investigated to reveal the truth.

Several other celebrities whose names were included in the list of keynote speakers were also not aware of the said event. Not only did these celebrities disowned their involvement with the event, even the PR firm appointed for promoting the event told Deadline that they were given “fraudulent information” and are not part of the project anymore.

The organizer regretted the “miscommunication” and admitted the names of certain celebrities were listed as keynote speakers before they could officially confirm their participation. Lapensee also stated the ticket, which was sold for the even has been refunded.

In another news, Clooney, who is actively involved with various humanitarian projects, was disturbed after hearing the tragic death of George Floyd. He pointed out that the police have killed colored people so many times.

George Clooney also noted he does not have any doubt that Floyd was killed. The actor also hopes no other colored person gets killed, WION reports.
