In the history of films, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has turned out to be the most profit-making and popular franchise across the globe, as their films successfully break records and set a new ones for themselves at the box office.

The actors who work with MCU automatically gets paid a lot because of their high box office collections. For instance, Robert Downey Jr. earned millions by his superhero character, Iron Man. Given that, Marvel tends to hire big stars for every interesting character doesn't turn out to be a good idea always.

It is proven as Marvel and Disney wasted a big chunk of money by hiring A-list actor Vin Diesel for Groot's role. According to an online portal, when Diesel was approached by Marvel for Groot's role, he wasn't convinced but later his family and close friends assured him about the idea of playing a tree that repeats only one sentence.

The Fast and the Furious actor disclose that Marvel reassured him that Groot is like an animated character, The Iron Giant which the actor fond of already. The 52-year-old actor was sold to this idea because he was also interested in playing a character that was 100% CGI and had only two sentences, “We are Groot” and “I am Groot."

As per the source, it was his daughter who eventually convinced him to choose the role. The reason why Marvel wanted Diesel to play this character was his voice along with his popularity. Marvel also hired Bradley Cooper for another 100% CGI character of raccoon and it made sense to MCU to get another A-list star to accompany the raccoon.

Although Groot is a loved character and has more than just delivering two lines in the MCU movies as he does that in different languages and different tones. However, eventually, this character got Diesel wasted completely as an artist.

No doubt, it sounds challenging to speak one line in different ways but not as challenging as voice acting done by Cooper while playing Raccoon's character. Cooper’s character of Raccoon can display more emotions by the way he delivers the lines and also have meaningful dialogues.

On the other hand, half of the audience might not even understand what exactly “I am Groot” means. Additionally, even after having a uniquely famous voice, Diesel's lines as Groot get modified with the help of computers.
