Tom Selleck is sick and tired of the mustache that he has been sporting for years that’s why he wants to get rid of it immediately. However, the actor was told by his bosses at CBS that he cannot have his facial hair removed.

National Enquirer alleged that Selleck’s bosses reminded him that he and his mustache are a package deal in Blue Bloods. And the only time the actor could get rid of is after they approve it.

“The network honchos made it clear Tom and his mustache were a package deal. It’s in his contract. He’s got to keep the mustache. He’s aching to get rid of it though. It itches and causes breakouts and ingrown hairs and is generally uncomfortable even with all the washing and conditioning he does,” the source said.

But the source also stressed that it’s unlikely for Selleck to quit Blue Bloods just because he cannot get rid of his mustache. But he is not also one to hide the fact that he hates his facial hair.

Meanwhile, Selleck’s wife of 35 years also allegedly thinks that he looks better with a mustache than without.

“His towering height and charming personality, along with his mustache were among the first things that attracted her. So, Tom would be wise to stick with the ‘stache,” the source concluded.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. It’s unclear where the speculations regarding Selleck’s mustache is coming from but he has not complained about it during his interviews.

It also seems absurd for his bosses in Blue Bloods to ban him from getting rid of his mustache because it’s allegedly part of his contract.

Even if Selleck’s mustache is a key feature of his character in the TV series, it’s very easy to let the actor wear fake facial hair if he really wanted to get rid of it.

There’s no reason for Selleck to have to agree to keep his mustache if he wants to get rid of it just because it’s included in his contract.

Actors’ contracts do not usually include information about their appearance or facial hair. If it did then a lot of actors can be sued for suddenly gaining or losing weight or getting plastic surgery.
