Hollywood actor Adam Sandler had a traumatic near-fatal experience while shooting one of his most famous movies. The actor was accidentally choked by his co-actors while filming an action sequence. 

 The actor’s crime thriller Uncut Gems was released in 2019 and was a big box office success. Critics, as well as, the viewers applauded Sandler for his outstanding performance in the film. Fans expected the film to bag awards at the Oscars. 

 

However, they were highly disappointed when the film did not get nominations at the Academy Awards. Meanwhile, the movie’s director duo Benny and Josh Safdie have shared that Sandler was almost choked to death by the actor’s co-stars while filming one of the action sequences.

 

The actor became so uncomfortable while shooting the scene that he attempted to tap out. Sandler, however, was so into his character that his co-actors got the impression that he was behaving according to the demand of the script. The filmmakers even came out in the open with the names of those co-actors who thought so. 

 

They explained that Tommy Kominik and William Richards who played the roles of bodyguards in the film did not act before and were extremely professional. The directors remember one particular shot where Adam Sandler was getting choked and attempted tapping out.

 

However, these two newcomers thought that Sandler has got into his character and tried to choke the actor even harder. The directors mentioned that there was a point when Sandler could not even breathe properly. 

 

Meanwhile, Sandler distinctly recalls shooting for these action scenes for the movie. He mentioned how well the boys beat him up, The actor also admitted that there were some bruises on his body after filming those shots, Pinkvilla reports. 

 

Josh supported the actor’s claims and stated that Sandler had black marks on his body. The director even remarked that Sandler “looked like a cheetah” with so many black marks on his body.

 

Although this talented actor has not acted in too many dramas, he has always surpassed expectations. Even his 2019 crime drama Uncut Gems has not been an exception to that.

 

Several critics considered it as one of the finest films of 2019 while many others slammed the way some award bodies did not give the movie what they felt was its due credit. 

 

This crime thriller was a digression from the usual comedic films Adam Sandler used to be associated with. Although the actor did not get an Oscar for his portrayal, his performance was highly praised by the critics. Sandler’s Uncut Gems is now being streamed on Netflix in America, The Verge reports.
