Vladimir Putin is being dragged into the recent arrest of American athlete, Brittney Griner.

Earlier this year, the pro-female basketball star was arrested in Russia after authorities found her carrying CBE cannabis oil in her bag.

According to Globe, the drug is legal in the United States and most parts of Europe. So, Griner’s arrest came as a shock to everyone.

In fact, several people already came to Griner’s defense saying that she must have been taking the oil via her vape to relieve her from the stress caused by her sport.

However, the athlete is still in jail and she has been pleading for Joe Biden’s help to get her out of there.

Now, a source for the tabloid is saying that Russian President Putin had a hand in Griner’s arrest. And it’s a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

After all, her arrest took place just before Putin launched his attack on Ukraine. So, this was allegedly his way of urging America to back off.

“Pint-sized Putin knew he was going to need bargaining chips, but the US called his bluff and the dirty dictator came up short again. Which is the story of the insecure, 5-foot-6 poison dwarf’s life since 6-foot-9 Brittney’s tragic treatment exposes just how small he really is,” the tabloid claimed.

According to Marca, Biden has not given up hope that he could bring Griner home. But there’s also another person in her life who’s vowing to do the same.

Arizona Senator Mark Kelly has shown dedication in trying to bring the athlete home.

“The Government of the Russian Federation is requested to immediately release Griner and that the United States continually press for Griner's release in all interactions with the Government of the Russian Federation. I have worked with the State Department to ensure that the safe return of Brittney Griner is a priority, and this bipartisan resolution also shows the Senate's support for her,” Kelly said in a statement.

Unfortunately, Russia and Putin wouldn’t budge. In fact, officials from Russia have been insisting that the arrest was done properly. And they are also saying that their decision to arrest the athlete was justifiable because drugs aren’t allowed in Russia.

In fact, the possession of up to 6 grams of cannabis is considered an administrative offense.
